Matty discovered his passion and confidence for performing through years of training in hip hop dance. Beginning at the age of three, he went on to compete at the highest levels, earning a silver medal at the 2022 Hip Hop World Championships with Identity Dance Company and placing 2nd in New Zealand as a soloist at Hip Hop Unite. Matty's love for acting developed more recently, with his first role in 2022 as a supporting character in Packrat, which went on to win the NZ Shorts Film Festival in 2024. In 2024, Matty appeared as Neanderthal "Grunt" in Taika Waititi's Time Bandits and played "Brayden" in Jono Pryor's TV show Vince. He is currently furthering his acting skills through Juliet Furness' Youth Programme.
